Dear Emily,

I am SO sorry to have taken so long to write. Yes, i've been busy, but I think I also struggled with how to respond. I think you are a great girl, really liked having you in class, and could imagine hanging out with you outside of class too, but in the end decided that it probably isn't a good idea. First, I'm OLD. Seriously. I'll be, ahem, 35 next month! Secondly, I'm not single, so wouldn't want to mislead you. Leaving for Paris in just a few days, and still have tons to get done before then. Je te souhaite un bon ete ma chere.

You're the best!
Seth

wte

I, well we--the Southern France Youth Institute family--were all on our way to Carcassone to get our French IDs. But we had stopped at the Carrefour on the way to get some passport photos taken. And just in case you are unfamiliar with what a Carrefour is, it's the French version of a Walmart, just there aren't really gross people shopping there.

I had just went to the bathroom, and I was making my hike down the long hallway back to where my group was all huddled--by the photo-booth thinking if we all stand close enough to it this detour would take less time. And there is Max walking--I believe either to the bathroom or to the patisserie I had just passed.

I don't remember if I had made eye contact with him, yet (but) I do know no words had been exchanged (we never said anything to each other actually). But all of a sudden--it was as if the same song had magically started in both of our heads at the same time--we both started dancing. By the time we were close, he automatically held out his hand as I instinctively took it and quickly began twisting with him. And as soon as it started, he spun me down the hall in the direction of the photo-booth, and he continued walking to which ever destination he had in mind. We continued our dancing for a moment longer, but both of us resumed our daily gait at--again--the same time, pretending as if what had just happened was completely normal, and that there was nothing worth discussing. Yet I know/knew--oh god what did i know--I knew it was something unrepeatably special.
